Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is the same insurance plan that you would use at your primary care doctor. At your eye doctor, medical insurance is used when evaluating, diagnosing, or managing medical conditions that affect the eyes or vision, such as diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, eye infections, and other ocular health concerns.

Services related to the diagnosis and management of these conditions are typically not covered by vision insurance and are instead billed to your medical insurance plan. Routine vision exams for glasses or contact lenses are typically billed to vision insurance. Medical insurance does not generally cover elective procedures, such as LASIK surgery or IPL therapy.
