What is a Visual Field?
A visual field is a test used to measure your entire scope of vision, including both your central and peripheral (side) vision. During the test, a map is created showing how well you can detect objects in different areas of your visual field without moving your eyes.
Visual field testing is commonly used to diagnose and monitor a wide range of medical conditions, including glaucoma, medication-induced ocular toxicity, retinal disease, neurological disorders, and even brain tumors. These tests can help detect subtle changes in vision that may not be noticeable during everyday activities.
Visual field tests are billed to your medical/health insurance and may be subject to deductible, co-payment, or co-insurance amounts depending on your individual plan.
