Corneal Topography

What is a corneal topography?

A corneal topography is a scan of the front surface of the eye. This scan provides a detailed mapping of the cornea, which is used when fitting contact lenses or monitoring and diagnosing corneal diseases, such as Keratoconus.

The test is quick, painless, and does not require any contact with the eye. During the scan, you will be asked to look at a target while the instrument captures thousands of measurements of the corneal surface. These measurements allow your doctor to evaluate the shape, curvature, and overall health of the cornea.

Corneal topography can help detect subtle changes that may not be visible during a routine eye examination. It is commonly used for specialty contact lens fittings, monitoring corneal conditions, and evaluating patients who are considering or have previously undergone refractive procedures such as LASIK.
